Directorate of Treasuries and Accounts (DTA), Madhya Pradesh was established on 2nd April, 1964. There are 7 Divisional Joint Director Offices, 7 Accounts Training Schools, 45 District Treasuries and 162 Sub-Treasuries working under DTA. All Government transaction pertaining to Receipts and Payment (Head wise) are Complied at District Treasury on monthly basis and sent to AGMP, Gwalior.
Internal Auditing and physical verification of Stock of Government Offices is done by the DTA and Divisional Offices in time bound programme. Examination of pay fixation cases, Pension cases of Government Employees are also done by the Divisional Offices. Accounts Training Schools provide training of Government/Semi Government employees on Accounts and Rules relating to finances.
Treasury Computerisation & Networking is the precious Project of DTA. DTA has developed the site for Pension Information. The site is http://www.mpgovt.pension.nic.in
The main activity of Directorate of Local Fund Audit (DLFA), Madhya Pradesh is Auditing of Local Bodies, Municipalities & Grant-in-aided institutions. DLFA prepare a report on the highlights of irregularities and report to the Government and their Officials. There are 7 Regional Offices working under DLFA at Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar, Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal and Gwalior (Head Office).

To eradicate poverty and make available employment to the poor people and institutionalized the stream of economy in the State, in 1977 a cell was established, which latter on called Directorate of Institutional Finance.
The main objectives of Directorates are:-
To this end, the Directorate of Institutional Finance function as coordinator of the GOI, State Govt., RBI, Nabard Sponsored Schemes. DIF is mainly concern with Commercial and Rural Banking. Directorate is also entrusted with working of Human Resources Development.
There are 10 Externally Aided Project (EAP) and 10 Centrally Administered Health Foreign aided schemes working in the State. To improve the infrastructure in the State DIF is seeking assistance from ADB and World Bank for the State Highways and Urban Development and monitor the foreign aided schemes and get more and more resources to the State with effective coordination.
In 1995 DIF published first edition of Human Resources Development (HRD) and second edition in 1998, now the third edition of HRD is likely to be published in 2001.
Directorate of Financial Management Information System was established in 1987 to provide important information to Monitor and Control of Income and Expenditure. The main role of FMIS is to provide important information of budget, income and expenditure to higher level as per requirement.
In July, 1989, FMIS took up the task of computerized budget-making by compiling budget data at the lower level to generate and print all the budget volumes and detailed books required to be presented to the State Legislature. On 1991-92 “Total Budget On Computer” target was achieved.
FMIS provide Technical Assistance to various departments. In view of District Government, FMIS developed a “District Budget Compilation Module” and distributed to various departments according their requirement.
FMIS also conduct a Computer training programme for FD Personnel.
The Provident Investment Company Limited was established by the erstwhile Gwalior State in 1926. Prior to 1926 the surplus funds of Gwalior State and of various local bodies and trusts under the state were being invested in Bombay through Sir Shapurji Broacha and on his death through Mr. F.E. Dinshaw. The establishment of the Provident Investment Company Ltd. in 1926 was thus an institutionalization of the aforesaid arrangement of investing funds.
The main business of the Company is to collect the dividend on shares and debentures held by the Company and managing its own properties and the properties of Government of Madhya Pradesh and Government of India on commission basis. For Madhya Pradesh properties (only one - Edward Villa, Cuffee Parade) and properties of the Government of India which form 90% of the total properties. The company is acting as an agent for collection of rent etc. on commission basis.
